Tasting Notes
With 13 years of age, the 2012 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon has entered its prime drinking window, offering a silky yet structured experience. Aromas of dried blackberries, plum, and cassis intertwine with secondary notes of cedar, graphite, and leather. The tannins have softened, allowing flavors of dark chocolate, baking spices, and black tea to emerge on a long, graceful finish. This vintage still has several years of life ahead, but it’s beautifully expressive now.
This wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its character. Natural sediment may occur.

Download Tech SheetIn 1998, my family purchased our Winery Ranch, located along the Silverado Trail. The vineyard has been in continuous wine grape production since 1888 and we feel the obligation to remain passionate guardians of this beautiful place. My intention for each vintage with the Black Label is to create an expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects both the rich history of the vineyard as well as the iconic Stags Leap District AVA. I strive for the balanced structure that comes from the silky skin tannin married with the complexity of medium-toast French oak. The front palate is the hook: explosive dark berry fruit that grabs my attention. The rich front end of the wine carries through to a long, complex finish. Whether you want to pair it with an impromptu BBQ with friends and family or a formal holiday meal, this is a wine for every occasion.
