Tasting Notes
Our 2018 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon offers a velvety texture with smooth tannins that glide across the palate, supported by well-balanced acidity. This wine showcases aromas of ripe blackberry, cranberry, and fragrant rose. The rich, fruit-forward profile is complemented by savory undertones, creating a complex and elegant expression of Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its character. Natural sediment may occur.

In 1998 my family purchased our Winery Ranch, located along the Silverado Trail. The vineyard has been in continuous wine grape production since 1888 and we feel the obligation to remain passionate guardians of this beautiful place. My intention for each vintage with the Black Label is to create an expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects both the rich history of our Winery Ranch vineyard as well as the iconic Stags Leap District AVA. I strive for the balanced structure that comes from the silky skin tannin married with the complexity of medium-toast French oak. We have twelve distinct vineyard blocks including a rare south-eastern facing slope on our volcanic knoll. Multiple blocks allow me the chance to make multiple passes during harvest and then to ferment a number of small, individual lots which in their own right have unique characteristics that can then be thoughtfully combined.
