Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe blackcurrant, wild blackberry, and blueberry compote immediately showcase the vintage’s rich and generous character. Notes of tobacco leaf, baking spices, and a hint of graphite add layers of complexity, while the plush tannins and velvety texture create a luxurious mouthfeel. The wine’s long finish is marked by impeccably balanced fruit and oak, delivering a profound expression of Stags Leap District terroir.
This wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its character. Natural sediment may occur.

Download Tech SheetIn 1998, my family purchased our Winery Ranch, located along the Silverado Trail. The vineyard has been in continuous wine grape production since 1888 and we feel the obligation to remain passionate guardians of this beautiful place. My intention for each vintage with the Black Label is to create an expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects both the rich history of the vineyard as well as the iconic Stags Leap District AVA. I strive for the balanced structure that comes from the silky skin tannin married with the complexity of medium-toast French oak. The front palate is the hook: explosive dark berry fruit that grabs my attention. The rich front end of the wine carries through to a long, complex finish. Whether you want to pair it with an impromptu BBQ with friends and family or a formal holiday meal, this is a wine for every occasion.
